It's an awesome feeling when you know that there are areas of your life where you could change the way you think. You know this because your are pro-active in being the best person that you can be, and that this one the the fundamentals of doing so. You are also aware that affirmations are the sure-fire way to achieve this. But exactly what does this mean? An affirmation is simply a statement. In fact every thing we think, feel and imagine is an affirmation. So, it's not actually about affirmations. Specifically, it is how we construct them. Be aware though...... it is not enough if you are saying it and you do not re-train your mind and imagination to follow suit. Repetition is the key to getting your whole body to accept the affirmation. For you to truly own it. The power of thought as well as written and spoken word has long been known to hold weight. It is why so much attention is placed on these areas in elite-level sports and success in business. Contemplative Meditation, or Contemplative Prayer, is a type of meditation where the individual seeks to have communication with god, in whichever way they understand god to be. In the previous blogs, Meditation Series - Part 5 - Techniques For Practise Of Common Types Of Meditation - Focused Attention Meditation, and Meditation Series - Part 4 - Techniques For Practise Of Common Types Of Meditation - Mindfulness Meditation, we looked at mastering our mind and thoughts through meditation. Contemplative Meditation is quiet different. It is from the heart, and not the mind. There are many ways to cleanse your crystals so that they stay feeling bright and light. Every time you work with or carry a crystal, it not only provides beneficial therapeutic value (please read Crystal Therapy Series - Part 1 - Introduction: What Is Crystal Therapy?), but also accumulates energy from its environment such as your emotions, thoughts and of those around you. It is great for the crystal if you are having an awesome day in a harmonious environment and feel really good, but not so much if you are working through issues, feel emotional. or are perhaps spending time in a tense or stale environment at home or at work. Crystal Therapy is a wonderful metaphysics healing modality that may facilitate powerful changes in a short period of time, when conducted by a qualified crystal therapist. Crystal Therapy involves the use of various crystal therapy tools such as crystal wands, high-quality crystals that are laid on and around the body and crystal grids, to name a few. A good crystal workshop conducted by a qualified crystal therapist will assist you to access and feel the energies of the crystals for yourself and teach you to understand how they can be used for maximum benefits. You may have read her international best-selling book 'You Can Heal Your Life'. The Heal Your Life® work is explained in Heal Your Life® Series - Part 1 - Introduction: What is Heal Your Life®?. I was first introduced to the Heal Your Life® work when I received a little white book with a big colourful heart on the front for my 21st birthday. Written on one of the first pages was a birthday greeting with the old-fashoned writing of my (then) step-father's mother. Although I didn't know it at the time, this is where my spiritual wings were really beginning to stretch. Focused Attention (or Concentration) Meditation such as the Buddhist Meditation type, Samatha Meditation, is about stilling the mind, in order to train it to concentrate. This can be an object, thought or emotion. Unlike Mindfulness Mediation that was covered in Meditation Series - Part 5 - Techniques For Common Types Of Meditation - Mindfulness Meditation, Focused Attention Meditation does not require you to delve deeply into actually comprehending the point of focus. You just need to concentrate on it, without distraction. Vipassana Meditation, Zen Meditation and Hindu Meditation are all meditation types that fall under the category of 'Mindfulness Meditation'. CBT, or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy often features the practise of mindfulness, and mindfulness meditation is one of the more popular meditation practises. Mindfulness meditation involves practising being in, or being mindful of, the present moment. This may by achieved by focusing on an object, thought or feeling. There are many different types or styles of meditation, providing their own specific benefits as well as having the collective benefits as mentioned in Meditation Series - Part 1 - Introduction: What Is Meditation? It doesn't really matter which type of meditation you begin with as practising any meditation will have benefits. Try aim for regular practise, starting with small periods of time, and work towards more extended periods as you are more practised. If you attempt extended periods in the beginning, it may prove to much to practise daily. You will be more likely to abandon the practise, and therefore abandon all the benefits it has to offer. |
