Typical mantras used in meditation may be;
- Om
- Love
- I am healthy and happy
- I am successful
To use Mantra in meditation is to either think and say/verbalise or simply think your chosen sounds/syllables/words/sentence over and over again. You may like to close your eyes or have them open. Be sitting or moving about. In pure purposeful meditation, or while performing other activities such as walking.
Using Mantra is a fantastic way to meditate. It can be difficult to quiet the mind when beginning to practise meditation. Mantra is useful as you keep the mind busy and focused on a task. By saying the same thing repeatedly, your mind is freed of thinking or processing thoughts and can simply relax into the repudiation.
The benefit of Mantra meditation is that you can choose to 'feed' your mind certain thoughts for your better good. Affirmations in Mantra can be very powerful. Saying your Mantras out loud gets more results that simply thinking them. This is because you are not only processing the thought of the Mantra, but are also saying it, hearing it and receiving the vibration of your vocal chords within your body and how it feels to say, think and hear it.
