Reiki My introduction to reiki was in the form of retail therapy! I had heard about this mysterious energy healing thingy and was very curious to understand what it was all about. There was something deep inside my being that intuitively knew that I absolutely had to do a reiki workshop, without ever having experienced a reiki healing. Up until this point, I had only heard of energy or vibrational healing as a passing comment, and that some of my alternative friends were to be participating in a reiki level 1 course in the near future. The only piece of advice I had been given was that finding the right Reiki Master/Teacher was important, and I should seek out the 'right person for me'...I was unsure exactly how to go about doing this.
As is the way when you know you want something, but are not sure what it is, I went shopping! There was an extension to the local shopping mall with a whole host of new outlets on offer to tempt my undecided mind. Walking around, I felt compelled to enter a shop that contained mostly crystals and books on many vibrational therapies modalities such as crystal healing, colour therapy, reiki, sound healing, energy healing, clearing, balancing and charging the aura, chakras & subtle energy bodies, pranic healing and affirmations & manifestation.
It was here that I purchased my first crystals and, as a passing comment, mentioned that I was interested in learning reiki healing to the shop assistant. It was at this point that the lady took a beautiful piece of green paper and proceeded to write the name and phone number of a lady who taught the original and traditional system of reiki, Usui Reiki. The lady couldn't recommend this reiki teacher more highly. It was finally the sign I had been looking for to begin to learn reiki. My spiritual path had consciously begun!
